Monday Co-op Administrative Values
*What do we consider controversial?
Religious doctrine (including issues like age of the earth, creation/evolution, etc.), politics and politically sensitive issues and anything you might avoid during Thanksgiving dinner. This is NOT a matter of censorship – you’re welcome to have strong beliefs, we just ask that those discussions be left at the door Mondays for the sake of unity.
- Neutral Beliefs. We believe homeschoolers are better united rather than divided and so we leave controversial issues at the door* and focus on our common ground. We are not a Christian group and we respect that our members have different religions. We have members all along the liberal/conservative spectrum and we have an amazing time together.
- Unified. We want our community to be a safe place for growth so we encourage direct, kind and loving communication. If there is a conflict we ask that members go to the person directly first. If that doesn’t work, reach out to the leadership. We’re happy to help! We believe conflicts can be resolved quickly when they are addressed directly and early.
- Welcoming. We want to have a place where people feel loved and accepted. We welcome new members and encourage our kids to include other children.
- Transparent. Administrative meetings and financial information are open to the membership at all times.
Monday Co-op Administrative Values
- Flexible. We embrace change when it moves us closer to our core values and we do our best to work with special circumstances. Families may choose half or full days.
- Careful time and resource management. We have a central budget to avoid buying duplicate supplies, we offer curriculum support, we have no setup requirements and minimal clean up responsibilities.
- Cooperative. For our group to be successful we depend on the contribution of every family according to their abilities. We ask that families truly commit to their time at Livingston Choice Learning and avoid absences whenever possible.
- No soliciting. We do not permit members to promote their businesses other than designated places, however, fundraising opportunities are welcome.
- Longevity Focused. We want to set up systems that can continue to work into the future, with easy transfers of responsibility. We offer clear job descriptions, lesson plans and curriculum support for our teachers and aids.
